后疫情时代 共同见证耀中教育者的力量

  In the past six months, we witnessed and experienced a historical moment. The Covid-19 epidemic has disrupted the normality; it forced the YCIS Qingdao community to adapt ourselves to the extra-long home-based learning time. However, finally, we welcomed back the long-awaited campus life!

  过去爆炸声不断彻响而起六个月,每个人都成为了历史的见证者和创造者。一场突如其来ㄨ的疫情打乱了以往的生活节奏,青岛耀中国际学校的师生们也度过了一场超长“假期”,终于让你尝尝什么是炼魂之痛迎来了期待已久的校园生活。

  For YCIS Qingdao, providing a high-quality and rigorous online learning environment is the basis to ensure our students continue to learn and grow during this global event. The past e-learning months required not only parents to supervise their children's "home school," but also teachers to re-design their teaching methods – Students moved from desks to screens, and teachers became "online celebrities." Through e-learning YCIS Qingdao and our families have been more tightly connected, which let our community improve, to learn from each other and to join hands fighting with the epidemic.

  学生如何不虚度这场“特殊假期”、家长如何管理好孩子的“家庭学校”、学校如何应对伴随而来的“教学改革” ……种种难◥题之下,进行优质、严谨的在线教学成为我们的必选项。学生们从课桌前搬到屏幕前,老师们成为风格各异的“新晋主播”,网络教学将学校与家▲庭链接起来,成为一道△象征希望的战“疫”风景线。

  Our Faithful Minds

  坚守信心,迎难而上

  In the beginning, it was a different challenge for our teachers and students of varying year levels, to shift all classes online. On the one hand, the knowledge that can be mastered through teachers’ demonstration and classroom activities needs to be realised through the internet. Also, the usage of electronic devices at home, requires our students to pay closer attention. All of these called for higher requirements of YCIS teachers, including curriculum planning, transferring courses and materials online, making the lessons more in line with the digital environment, and improving teaching skills to present more eye-catching contents.

  将课堂搬上网络对于不同年级的师生来说星主府之中并非易事,而在云端课堂中,如何保证高水准的教学质量更是〖充满挑战。

  受到教学工具、场景的ξ 局限,原本通过老师们亲自演示和课堂操作能掌握的知识,现在却需要跨越虚拟网络来实现;使用电子设备来上课,也对学生的注意力提出更高的要【求。那么,如何将课程快速转移到在线教学模式,如何将课程◆制定得更加符合在线场景,如辛苦你了何更好地提高教学效率,这些都对我们老师的课程规划能力提出了极高○的要求。

  To ensure the students continually receive a high-quality education, our Chinese and Western Co-Principals lead all academic departments to transfer those challenges into opportunities by designing a set of multi-dimensional teaching models. Of course, this is not an easy process, but YCIS educators devoted themselves to the "trial and error".

  Transforming into a thoroughly "virtual" school has required strategic planning and adjustments for our academic team. For example, practical lab work has had to be pushed back, with topics that lend to more theoretical investigations, have been pushed forwards in the curriculum planning. Our blended e-learning progamme, moreover, benefits from having one centralised virtual learning environment: Microsoft Teams. The platform allows staff and students to meet live for lessons, record and playback video tutorials, interact in both synchronous and asynchronous discussion boards, interact with a virtual whiteboard, share, collate and edit files collaboratively, etc.

  Meanwhile, the ingenuity of YCIS teachers ensured a balanced family life. With specially designed home-based activities, students found themselves with more healthy choices, spending more time together with family members instead of sitting all day long in front of their computer and iPad. We have successively launched activities including online PE Challenges, weekly family teamwork competition, and Project-Based Learning opportunities such as "Our Hearts are with Wuhan and China" initialled by the Chinese Department. These all have enriched the students' home life during the epidemic.

  为了保证耀中学子在特殊时期仍能接受优质的课↓程教学,我们的中外籍双校长带领学校的各学部领导和教师团队选择了迎难而上,将困难化作挑战,把变数看作机会,发挥耀中︻课程研发的专业优势,“借势”特殊时期的新模式设计出一套属于青岛耀中的“多维”在线教学模式。当然,这并不是轻而易举获得的□ 结果,而是教师团队经过试验、磨合、再试验的反复调整后的结果。

  针对在线教学的局限和特点,我们的学术团队对课程安排进行了重新规划和调整,例如实践性实验课程推迟进行等,以保证课程内容的严谨性不因▃在线教学而降低教学质量。此外,我们引入科技工具协助教学:在集中没错的虚拟学习环境——微软Teams中老师和学生能够进行课程直播、录制和▲回放,在同步和异步讨论板中,实时进行交ㄨ流、共享并协作整理和编辑文件等。

  与此同时,备受孩子们喜爱的校园活动也经过老师们的巧思,移植到各自的家庭环∏境中,从而保证在疫情阶♂段学生们劳逸结合,保证Ψ健康的基础活动量。我们先后发起都退下了“线上体育锻炼”、“家庭团队◎合作周赛”、“对话最美逆行者”等活动,努力让同学们在疫情期间的↘学习生活丰富多彩。

  An Established Shool

  不忘初心,追求卓越

  In 1932, Madame Tsang Chor-hang established the first Yew Chung School. Our passionate founder held a profoundly advanced vision, which became the root of Yew Chung’s philosophy today. Over the past 88 years, Yew Chung educators have experienced multiple challenges. However, no matter the difficulties, we always firmly adhere to our all-rounded education and character formation. In the face of the crisis, a Community of Shared Future for Mankind has become more crucial, and Yew Chung educators will take the responsibility to raise globally competent and compassionate leaders with a servant’s heart, who aspire to, and act for, a better world.

  “International citizen” is our expectation for every ECE, Primary, and Secondary student. At YCIS Qingdao, our members come from more than 30 countries and regions with their own language, culture, and educational background. The YCIS curriculum aims to ensure that all students are provided with opportunities to become successful learners, confident individuals, responsible global citizens, and caring contributors, ready for their futures ahead. Therefore, beyond our balanced curriculum, we hold a variety of school events and clubs to broaden our students' horizons, strengthen parent-school relationships, and encourage our community members to grow together.

  八十八年以来,耀中教育者经历了战争和经济的多重挑战,但是无论经历多大的困难,耀中↘一直秉持对学生负责的态度,坚定地推崇根植于品格培养的全人教育。危机面前,人类更是一个共「同体,这也让耀中教育笑意者更加坚定了“通过教育提高学生素质,培养具有全球〓视野、能共情◣共感、立志@ 追求更美好世界的仆人领袖”的教育使命。

  自1932年,曾楚珩女士在香港创办第一所耀中学校至今,耀中学校始终致力于学生的全面成长,并希望帮助每位学生成为符合当下世界要◢求的“国际公民”。

  针对ζ不同年龄阶段学生的特点,我们在分别设立幼教部、小学部、中学部的同时,通过中英↑并重的双语课程、多元文化教学元素和众多跨国文化体验活动,来培养学生成为精通双语、学术成绩优异、思考灵活,并具备国际视野的人才。

  而对每一名耀中成员来说∩,我们不仅仅是一☆所学校,更♂是一个拥有来自30多个国家和地区成员的国际学校社区。在这里,会定期举』行“读书周”、“国际日”、“模拟联金木水火土五种力量从那五大半神身上爆发而出合国”等校园社区活动,并邀请享有盛誉的行业领袖进行∏分享。我们努力打开更高层次↙的国际化窗口,让▂学生能看得更远、想得更深。

  Yew Chung educators regard the Covid-19 as an opportunity to bring the community together. Facing these many challenges, teachers strive to ensure the quality of online teaching. Due to the closure of the border, many foreign teachers got stuck overseas. However, YCIS Qingdao teachers have foreseen this upcoming situation and got back to Qingdao in March, fully prepared themselves for the campus reopening.

  The special time is also another chance for our international education practitioners to rethink. With the accelerated globalisation, high-quality international education should be a blended programme of both the local and the world. We shall take root in the present as well as look forward to the future. And we shall not only train our students, but also highlight the importance of teacher training and parent workshops, to establish a truly international and diversified school community.

  At present, the global situation has been changing dramatically due to the epidemic. It is indeed challenging to provide professional and efficient learning opportunities, especially in a future full of uncertainty. But one thing will remain the same; that is Yew Chung educators’ constant commitment to education.

  在疫情之下,耀中教育者坚守教育理念。老师们在自身面对诸◆多挑战的情况下,仍然⌒尽职尽责,保障在线教学有↙序开展。国门的关闭导」致众多海外教师滞留境巨大外无法回中国;青岛耀中教学团队的老师们则是早在三月就已∑全员回到青岛等待开学。这是基于耀中学校多年恪守唯一的教学积淀,也是耀中教育者对责◥任的担当㊣ 。

  这场特殊挑战,也让我们这些国际教育从业者重新思考:随着全√球化进程加快,优质的国际教育既要着眼★全球,也要㊣ 立足本土;既要展望未来,更要扎根当下;既要培养也不要再继续进阶学生,也要反哺老师与家长,从而最终共同建立起国际●化、多元化的互助与赋〓能学习社区。

  当下,世界环境伴︼随着疫情的发展发生了剧烈的改变,在危机尚在、充满不确定々性的未来,如何让教学更☉加专业和高效,仍然是我们需要不断思考和积∞极应对的挑战。但是,作为耀中教育者,我们坚信的,是我们对教育不变的承诺!
